A Thesis Proposal Title: Muon Detector  R&D for the SHiP experiment. Research area: Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics Approximate duration: 3 months - 9 months Place where it will be held: University of Bologna, INFN, CERN Short topic description: The thesis concerns the development of a muon detector for SHiP, a beam-dump experiment proposed at CERN-SPS for the 'hidden particles' search. The candidate will choose between different aspects concerning the realization of a high energy physics experiment: elaboration of algorithms for the muon chambers simulation; muon chambers design and test; investigation of new physics concerning, in particular: dark matter / neutrino tau  physics.
